Phillip brings over 20 years of integrated science / business experience in the biotechnology sector. Most recently, he served as VP of R&D and Experimental Medicine at Pierian Biosciences where he led the transformation of a research microarray-based immunoassay to a spectro-magnetic platform for downstream regulatory and commercialization strategy. Prior to Pierian Biosciences, he served as a Sr. Director at Prometheus Laboratories Inc. a Nestle Health Science Company overseeing R&D operations as well as medical affairs. He directed collaborative studies with pharmaceutical companies and academic institutions. Prior to Prometheus Labs, Phillip served as a Director, R&D at Autogenomics developing pharmacogenetic IVD products. Dr. Kim began his career with his first start up company, KnowledGene – a company dedicated to providing direct to consumer genetic testing along with counseling provided by a nationwide network of genetic counselors. Philip is an inventor on more than 35 patents in diverse disciplines and publications.
Phillip received a PhD in Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics at the University of California, Los Angeles and trained as a post-doctoral fellow at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Phillip earned MBA from Marshall School of Business at University of Southern California and Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at UCLA. Phillip has authored more than 60 scientific publications and book chapters.
